Dr William Crook,author of The Yeast Connection and the Woman,suggested to me years ago that there was a connection between hypothyroidism and over growth of Candida yeast in the body. Hypothyroidism is on the list of his symptom sheet to evaluate whether a person's health problems may be yeast related. As I treated patients using his protocol,I found that unless thyroid levels were optimized,women would have a return of their yeast related problems after antifungal treatment.As thyroid levels decline,the environment better supports yeast over growth. This leads to a wide variety of health problems as the over growth activates the immune system to cause inflammation and oxidation(Oximation).
